Yes, the Foundation is organized under the Non-Profit Corporation Act (D.C. Code, title 29, Chapter 3, as amended) for public and charitable purposes.  It is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c) (3) charitable organization and all donations are fully tax deductible as allowed by law.

Can donations be made to either the National Intelligence University Foundation or the NIU Alumni Association?

Donations are made only to the Foundation.  Funding for the Alumni Association is channeled through the Foundation.

Over 80% of every dollar contributed goes to support the University, its programs, and its alumni.

How old is the National Intelligence University?

The institution’s name was changed to the National Intelligence University in August 2011, but its history goes back over 50 years.  Previous names include: National Defense Intelligence College (2006-2011), Joint Military Intelligence College (1993-2006), Defense Intelligence College (1983-1993), and
Defense Intelligence School (1962-1983).
